The trek provides an excellent opportunity to experience Tanzania's natural beauty on foot. During the lower sections of the route, hikers may encounter wildlife such as giraffes, buffaloes, antelopes, monkeys, and a wide variety of bird species, accompanied by experienced guides and park rangers where required. Mount Meru is also considered an excellent acclimatization trek for Mount Kilimanjaro.
